What is .example?
The .example top-level domain is reserved against usage in the global Domain Name System so it may used tutorials, training, and other forms of documentation. As names under .example do not resolve to real services or conflict with registered domains, it can be used safely to illustrate concepts without generating unintended traffic or raising privacy concerns.
For further information, see Special-Use Domain Names (RFC 6761) and Reserved Top Level DNS Names (RFC 2606).
You can't register a name under .example at any registrar, and it's not meant to resolve on the public internet. That's exactly why it's useful: software and people can rely on it never colliding with a real website.
